Swedish Adventures

Hello and welcome back! It has been many months since the last blog update and there has been a lot of great music, players and moments between now and then.

Going back to the end of August 2019, there were several ensemble concerts that I had the pleasure to be a part of, two highlights would be playing in a six piece gypsy band on the Birs Kraftwerk Insel and joining the ‘Jetsam 5’ at the beautiful ‘Ängel oder Aff ‘ cafe.

As summer turned to autumn I traveled to Sweden, my first stop was Stockholm, to meet up with Steinar Aadnekvam, an incredible guitarist from the Freedoms Trio whom I met at the 'Analog Music Night' festival in Mendrisio, Switzerland, earlier that year. We spent some days together making arrangements and working out tunes. It was great to share some notes with a musician of such a high caliber of expression and technique, thank you Steinar!

Hanging out with a legend!

After Stockholm I travel by train southwest to Gothenburg to meet with another phenomenal player, Emil Ernebro.

I was privileged enough to spend some days playing alongside Emil, making videos and even doing an interview for his online guitar school ‘ProGuitar’.

While in Gothenburg, Emil introduced me to Pavel Lychagin, who is an is equally impressive guitarist as he is a videographer, click here to see!

After a great two weeks in Sweden I traveled back to Basel, Switzerland, to play at Dreiland Yoga festival. This was the second year the festival had taken place and the second time I was lucky enough to play there, thank you to the festival team!

In the last week of October I traveled to Ticino, the Italian part of Switzerland, to spend some days with the team at Schertler to discuss sound. While there we recorded a short interview and I was treated to great Swiss/Italian hospitality, thank you Schertler!

November was a busy month, I played several concerts in Basel together with the great George Ricci, a sold out theatre show in Maulburg, southern Germany, my first concert with my Switzerland based booking agency Tourbo Music and performed at the next instalment of ‘Guitars and More’.

Here are some new transcriptions I have worked on, yo can always see more on my YouTube Channel by clicking here.

Another transcription, this time from contemporary Jazz master Julian Lage.

And that concludes my 2019! Until next time,
